Subjects such as politics, theology, economics and ethic are not taught in public schools. The
founders believe this has created and contributed to the development of inferior students with little understanding and very few options to participate equitably in what
they believe to be a biased system of education.
Proof
exist that there are well-financed and well-organized pressure groups who intentionally advocate against these four subjects being taught in public schools. These
subjects are critical and vital to economic development in poor communities, many of which that are stricken with drive by shootings, young people afraid to travel to and from school,
and youth who simply choose not to go to school because it is unsafe. Music can help close this gap. In addition, music builds character and self esteem and is the only educational medium that utilizes 100% of the brain simultaneously.
The AEM Foundation targets at risk youth seeking outlets
which lead to viable opportunities for employment or
which contribute to their social and financial well being. Statistics prove that students involved in the arts have higher test scores in all core classes than those who do not participate in the
arts.
