BRINGING MUSIC TO THE HEARTS IN THE STREETS

 

 

 

            The Rev. Dr. Alvin McKinney is a Power Alto Saxophone player promoting his musical talents and sound on his debut solo CD “A Spiritual Journey. A native of Memphis, Tennessee, Dr. McKinney has been performing since the age of four. For over 25 years he’s performed on Alto, Tenor and Soprano saxophones professionally. Additional musical skills and talent include flute, clarinet, midi wind controller, keyboards, drums and percussion. His musical background includes such styles as classical, jazz, gospel, blues, dixieland, R & B, soul, and funk. 

          He is a song writer, arranger, composer and producer with a history of projects in production, musical direction, acting and choreography. He graduated from University of Memphis with a Bachelors in Music Education (B.M.E.) with a concentration in saxophone performance. He studied under the Professor of Saxophones, Mr. Allen Rippe. In the University of Michigan’s Masters program he studied saxophone performance under Mr. Donald Sinta and taught jazz styles as a graduate assistant under Ed Sarath for one year.

            Rev. Dr. Elizabeth McKinney  - Dr. McKinney is the Founding Director of the Ghana Trade & Information Office (Ghana T.I.O., Inc.,  (www.ghanatio.org), where she serves as a trade and information officer. The GTIO is a liaison office promoting trade and commerce between USA and Ghana based companies and facilitates project funding for infrastructure, humanitarian, and economic development projects and programs.

          Dr. McKinney is contracted to represent the Project Development International Funding Process, where she manages the business affairs of the “Africa Desk”, established to address infrastructure, sustainable, and humanitarian projects in Africa.
